Correction of Inverted Nipples in Las Vegas

Less than 10% of women in Las Vegas have inverted nipples. The inverted nipple does not protrude from the center of the areola, but rather appears to be “sucked in” and non functional. The inverted nipple can be partially or completely inverted and can affect one or both breasts. In the milder cases of partial inversion, stimulation occasionally will allow the nipple to temporarily “pop out”. Completely inverted nipples almost never pop out or become erect by themselves. The condition is easily recognized by the presence of a horizontal slit where the nipple ought to be. This is an embarrassing and de-feminizing condition which has received very little attention or promotion for correction from the medical community. It is very difficult or impossible to breast feed an infant with completely inverted nipples. A small percentage of women with partially inverted nipples can breast feed. Inverted nipples are a birth defect that doesn’t become obvious until a girl starts to develop her breasts.

The basic problem is failure of the breast ductile system to complete the process of duct or “Tube” development all the way out to the tip surface of the nipple. Where there should be a functional nipple duct, these women have solid cords of tissue which are shortened and pull the nipple down (outside-in) into the breast itself. Inverted nipples can be tender when stimulated.

Las Vegas Plastic Surgeon Stephen Gordon has developed a very reliable operation for correction of the inverted nipple in Las Vegas. A nearly invisible incision is made across the nipple, and the shortened duct-cords are severed releasing the nipple. A few steps later, and the patient now has a very normal looking pea size nipple on the surface of the breast that will not invert. Stitches come out in five to seven days.
